Doggy Cupcakes

When a two year old wishes for a doggy party...

I had so much fun baking and decorating those cupcakes and who doesn't like to have a smile in the face while doing "work"? Not that I think baking is work though ;)

Because it was a girl I printed some bows, cut it out, glued those to some tooth picks and inserted it for some girly look.

And for the little... hm... I won't say it, but for those I printed some flies, used a flower shaped punch, glued it to tooth picks as well and voila - it looks nice and funny and oh so sweet.

"Let it Bloom" Cupcakes

There is nothing more wonderful than the big and happy eyes of kids when they are seeing funny cupcakes.

I made those beauties for a very cute and adorable 3 year old who celebrated her birthday at my favorite farm. And she was glowing when she saw them - the best Thank You ever :)

To make those flowers I cut mini marshmallow with a scissor in half and the half diagonal again and pot the sticky side in colored sugar. Apart from that I used skittles and made some cupcake toppers from scrapbook paper scraps and toothpicks.

I used store bought icing simply vanilla (not the whipped kind) and colored it with food color in neon pink and neon green - going trendy here ;)

What a simple way to make some happy flower cupcakes.

Pool-Party

Last weekend we had our first but for sure not the last pool party. It was so much fun to look for proper food ideas.  My one to go source or where I look first regarding anything is Pinterest. I love it! Pinterest is THE place to dive in other worlds, in other life's in other countries. A magical place and highly addicting  not to mention a real time eater. Anyway, I took some looks around and found great ideas to go with:

Our dessert buffet was filled with pineapple muffins, mixed berries scones, watermelon on a stick, mixed berries muffins, fruits, flip flop cookies and blue jello with graham teddies floating on it. The adults loved it as much as the kids did and I was very pleased that everyone was happy and joyful.

Besides the food I made several stations like a pool toy station, garden toy station, towel dryer station, bubble station even a sun cream and bugs spray station. I have so much fun with decorating and coming up with fun ideas for the guests.

Silverware packed in a napkin and a string with a "life savers". I got this idea from Pinterest and instantly saved it.

Our bbq buffet... getting hungry already only for looking at this picture *yumyumyum*

Dessert Buffet with Beer Bottles made from Sugar

It's quite a while that I was here life was way to busy. But I had such a wonderful experience and opportunity last week with my baking that I have to stop by and talk about it. My neighbors hubby had his 50th birthday - I guess it's not bad to tell you the number because it's a man - and I was the lucky girl who was in charge of the dessert buffet. It was like a dream come true even it meant to bake for 60 people. In the beginning I was nervous if I could pull this off but than I sat down and planed the whole thing. It was so much fun to look for delicious recipes, to write an unbelievably long shopping list and to think about in which order and how to bake it.

Throughout my "baking marathon" of three days I was calm and most of the time feeling really serendipitous. To think about the birthday guy and how he will react to his amazing birthday cake and to know to make a lot of people happy with all the yummy things gave me a lot of positive energy.

I did a first attempt of making beer bottles from sugar and at the end it worked wonderfully. In the beginning I couldn't even believe that it was possible, than I saw this video: http://youtu.be/hinQva4cZyQ for making a mold and this video: http://youtu.be/mjTvSQezy0I about making the bottles and did it. Not only me to be honest but with my hubby who was a great great help!

The cake was the hit of the party. Anyone was touching the bottles in disbelief and amazed when it felt sticky. The cake got facebooked, twittert and was photographed like nothing else on this night. I can't even describe how pleased I felt and how thankful I am about every single compliment. It was one of the most wonderful experiences I had and even after a couple of days now I still feeling "high" about that opportunity and blessed with this inimitable outcome.

Now it's time for some pictures, right ;)

I guess I found my calling :)

Vegan Cookie Pops

Actually I wanted to make some vegan sugar cookie dough for Easter cut out cookies but I hadn't much luck with the dough. I tried to make it more moister but had no luck at all. My dough stayed crumbly. I didn't want to waste all the good ingredients and thought about what I could do with it. So I came up with an idea and gave some chocolate chips to the dough. Than I rolled the dough to little balls between my hands and stuck a stick in it like you would use for candy making. In the end I had some sweet cookies on a stick and my kids loved it :)

The Big Day or My first Baby Shower Cookies

I am so proud of my first cookies for a baby shower, you wouldn't believe how much. There is nothing more important for me than to bring everything I have into a project and even give a little more. I simply can't do things halfhearted what isn't always easy but gives me a good feeling especially when I do something for friends.

Now.... *drum roll  please*  my cookies:

Before I even started to make cookies I searched around the world wide web to get an idea on baby shower cookies and found a wonderful website called "I am baker" with the most adorable peeking Baby cookies you have ever seen. I had to try them and I love how my peeking babies turned out :)

cookies, cookies and more cookies...

A friend of mine is pregnant and I am organizing with another friend a Baby Shower for her. I never did something like this before because in Germany it is bad luck if you celebrate before the baby is born. That's why I looked around the internet to get an idea for decorating, for gifts, for favors (favors are something we don't do too) and for things to bake. I was amazed by what I found. There are so many wonderful blogs and websites out with baking and decorating cookies, I really was blown away.

I found great ideas but I had to make sure to practice the whole icing and frosting part. So I made cookies for spring, for a friend of my daughter who had her 14th birthday and for Easter.

Sweetness from the past

I didn't photograph everything I baked, unfortunately, but there were some pictures I found on my laptop. But why am I writing about it and why did I start this blog? I can't give you one answer because there are different reasons. On the one hand I am home with my sweet little boy ( he is 16 months today) and I would love to do something else besides taking care of him. Don't get me wrong I love him more than I can say but sometimes Mommy simply needs a time out and with baking I am in heaven. On the other hand I am looking for something I love to do and earn some acceptance, some compliments and certainly to earn some money - doing my (little) contribution to our little household of four.

We'll see how this will go but I think positive and deep in my heart I am hoping for the best :)

Again, a birthday cake  for my daughter, but this time I drew it first before baking and decorating.

Rubber ducks was the theme of my sons first birthday - he loved it :)

I love to bake

It all started with my daughters 9th birthday. No, that's not really true because I bake since I  was a teenager but back in Germany we have quite an other style to do so. Most of the time we bake with fruits or with yeast dough and no, I mean no bread in this case.

But back to the story I was just about to tell you. Almost six years ago we moved to the US because my hubby got a job here. My daughter and I came without knowing any English (and I still struggle with this language) and we had a hart time to adjust to a new life in a foreign country. To make her birthday - far away from all the family we have - special, I created this Birthday Cake for her and with this cake I became more and more interested in baking and decorating cakes.
